Struggle with face cancer. First noticed in 1996. Spread through cuts when breeding. Spread rapidly and damaged the population.
Now working to re-introduce disease-free wild versions of this species, bread in captivity, back in to controlled parts of Tasmania.
Have a wild population, and an insurance population.
