Swakopmund is the name of the town at the mouth of the Swakop river. Mund is Afrikaans for ‘mouth’. Walvis Bay is a town just south of Swakopmund. Walvis is Afrikaans for ‘whale’. ‘Vis’ is Afrikaans for ‘fish’.
