Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA)

An Excellent two weeks supporting Elephant Human Relations Aid (EHRA) in Namibia’s North Namib desert. Learnt much about the challenges faced by both people and desert-adapted elephants living their lives in this harsh land. And good insights into the ‘Conservancy’, a Conservation Model applied to mitigate the Human-Wildlife conflict in the area. Building then Patrolling the area around the Ugab River. An excellent experience.

How to make it work in practice, volunteer organisation EHRA builds elephant barriers around water tanks and supports the building of elephant dams, so elephants pass by on their way to water, drink from the dams, and do not damage the precious water contained in the water tanks.
