Ran on my own as Adelaide Marathon delayed due to Covid-19

Training in the Covid Era with good friends Andy G, Carla V and Jude

Adelaide Marathon completed in 3 hours and 54 minutes. It sure is great to be back in the sub-4 hour club after a six year absence. With little control and influence over anything since March, waking up early and running 10km most mornings supported my mental and physical health. The endorphins of the morning run made the present challenges seem manageable. Re-uniting with good friends and great running buddies like Andy G and Carla V, and Iron-Man Jude, provided great motivation. Setting the goal to run a marathon distance before returning to the UK, and training alongside Andy got me through those dark Covid days of April. By June, the Half-Marathon Thursday with Carla and Jude, up the spectacular trail running sites of Adelaide, had laid down a good endurance base. Hopefully the official Adelaide Marathon can be run in 2020, but my attempt through Linear Park, from the hills to the sea, was very special. Of my 17 previous marathons, this is the first where the last 10km were quicker than the first, the benefits of a 14 week training program. Comrades 2022 training starts tomorrow, with a rest day.
